Thanks! I had really good grades my freshmen year but the sort of slipped my softmore year. Next year i'll be a jr. and plan to work really hard. My SAT's are high though. I know i'm intrested in the engenering and flying but not sure on much else.

- I love music. I play the cello and piano and also now made choir. I love to play sports and workout to stay in shape. I enjoy working on cars and studing aviation. I also love being around my family, expecially my younger brother.

During an application review, we will look first at academic performance shown by term and cum GPAs, course selection (communications, science, math, honors, AP/IB), class ranking and SAT/ACT scores. We will use either SAT or ACT, depending on which is available and which has the higher equivalent score. Also, we love to see college-level work, so if you have taken any college classes over the summer or during the school year, be sure to let us know and send transcripts. You may be able to receive academic credit for your degree here.
After academics we look into extracurricular activities both in the school and in the community. In all of our majors it helps for students to be comfortable interacting with others and this gives us a reasonable demonstration of that ability. These activities can be listed on the application.
A personal statement or resume is optional but encouraged. The personal statement or essay is your chance to tell us what we can't find in the application or on your transcripts already, be it something personal such as your motivation toward design, or something creative to demonstrate your imagination and writing ability.
The best time to apply is in the fall of your senior year. The updated online application will be available by the end of September at which point you are free to get started. We review applications as they are received and completed and accepted applications are automatically reviewed by the Financial Aid Office for our primary merit-based scholarships; no additional application is required.

The engineering program, especially, has a strong mix of theory and practice with team design work starting in the first or second semester and continuing through the entire program. Most classes are taught as a mix of lecture and hands-on, though some may emphasize one over the other based on the needs of the class. More students these days confess a greater learning ability in hands-on environments then in years past, so the professors are working to accommodate that.
In most cases, project work and design is accomplished in teams of varying sizes. Engineers in the industry work in teams, so we cultivate that format here so our graduates are familiar with that environment. Homework, of course, is completed individually, but group study is not discouraged.

The engineering program here starts with Calculus w/ Analytical Geometry in the first semester, so our requirement is to make sure you are ready for that when you show up. It is great that you've completed a separate Trig class in addition to Pre-Calc as they both weigh heavily on the understanding of Calc 1 and should be great preparation. For your senior year, I would first recommend taking an engineering-level calc class at a local college if available where you might be able to complete Calc I and Calc II before starting at Riddle. AP Calc would be a second choice with a standard calc class if nothing else is available. Beyond that, please be sure to take both Physics and Chemistry while in high school if at all possible; AP-level optional.
The flight training program at Embry-Riddle's residential campuses is available to any degree-seeking student, regardless of major. If you wish, you can allow time in your schedule to complete the flight training up to or beyond the Multi-Engine Commercial license. I would highly recommend that you take advantage of the flight training available here if able as the understanding of aircraft and flight can dramatically influence your design ability as an engineer.
