Hi Brittany,

I love your page here.

The Aerospace Engineering program here is focused a little more on the airframe or structure of the vehicle and the selection of systems, such as avionics and propulsion. Since you are interested in rockets for space travel, it might be worth looking more into Mechanical Engineering for air-breathing propulsion systems (travel to space) or Space Physics - Exotic Propulsion (travel through space), depending on which interests you more.

The chemical propulsion systems used currently in launch vehicles and space transportation are about 99% efficient, so any improvements at this point in efficiency will be negligible and the only way to increase power is to increase size. The Exotic Propulsion program of Space Physics looks beyond chemical systems to explore higher power-to-weight options to dramatically accelerate space travel potential.

I can actually give you the dates for orientation and move-in now. Check-in for housing is August 20 and New Student Orientation is August 21-23. Classes start Monday, August 24. You should expect to receive details of the orientation events in July.

I hope that helps. Let me know if any other questions come up.

Hi Brittany,

Welcome to the network! Looks like you are moving right in. That's fantastic! I hope you have a good time while you're here. What kind of engineering interests you and what are you looking forward to designing?

If any questions come up, please let us know.
