Laptop? Flat top? Hard top or soft top? On top?

The most important question I've got is what kind of computer (if any) I should bring? And what programs I should purloinchase. I'm planning on engineering.
The others aren't really questions, just things that ended in top, but I might as well. . .
Should I get a flat top haircut?
If I had enough money to buy a convertible (which I don't) should I get a soft top or a hard top?
And umm, ERAU is on top of. . .umm, the ranking. (Ya, that'll work, wait, it's not a question.) Is ERAU on top of the rankings? (Not much better.)

I think that the real problem with Vista is that it requires Fancy hardware which is off course quite expensive. More than that, all the hardware is used for making your desktop look pretty - which is just a shabby copy of OS X. So, i think a Mac book with windows XP is the best option available !!

Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards a mac too. I'm planning on keeping my HP laptop (which runs XP) on hand for taking notes in classes and the like, but I'll probably get an iMac with Office on it for my dorm. Don't forget, apple also gives out discounts on new computers to college kids. There's a link somewhere on their store site (something like "Education Store"). You have to send them confirmation that you're enrolled though at the end of it.

Dude thats a great move! If you buy a mac you even get good discounts on Adobe products, that is off course if you need them.

And i can see from your pic that your a camera freak, so mac is the way for you. It runs photoshop as if it were firefox ! I use it in school and i would definitely recommend that you should go for it.

I checked the Apple discounts a couple of weeks ago, for the computers you get around $200 off.

I have a mac book.

It works really well

although something dont work on it
like My IT Lab

I dont know if Riddle uses that.

Everything is smooth and if I ever need a PC
just go to the library.

I dont think it really matters. Get what ever you want

I would go note book for college though so you can work in different place.

Dude, your in the professional pilot program. For the ones in AE it makes a lot of difference as a lot of work is to be done on the computers

So is there anyone who can give us a definite answer?

maybe a current student?

Simpler version, PC for engineers (Dell is promoted by Riddle) and whatever you want for others. I think.

I just got a Dell Inspiron 1525 for $599. 3GB memory, 160 GB Hard Drive...Absolutely perfect for college. I did not want to spend a fortune on a Mac, even though they kick ass. However, I have heard that for engineers, or anyone going to work telecom or anything having to deal with computers a PC is preferred. Mac is rarely used in most businesses. Only problem - VISTA! So I am wiping Vista off and replacing it with XP. They don't offer you the choice to put XP on the laptop anymore (they said it wasn't in porduction?) at Dell. So if you are looking for it I'd say wait unitl you get to ERAU to install. Unless you have it at home. Then, get it done right away. Wouldn't want to get stuck waiting on them to install it when you have an assignment to do...

Two more question, I considered making a new discussion, but (obviously) decided against it.
1. I got my schedule and I'm signed up for Digital Circuit Design. What the (can I swear, I'm not sure on the rules) is this (more swearing)?
2. Is there an e-mail address we get? I am a little lost in all the letters and packages I've got from ERAU.
3. (Okay, I lied. I'm sorry.) What do people call Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University when they're being casual? I don't want to call it "ERAU" like I'm all hip and then find out people call it "Harvard of the Skies" or "Embry" or "Riddle" or (and this is unlikely) "that really cool place where we go to school that has the neat toys". Seriously, a 3-D printer, before I even knew what it did I was excited.

Aha. No clue to 1. To number 2, yes we do get an erau email address. You get it by logging into Ernie webmail...and as for three I'd love to know. hopefully its nothing too long as it would be incredibly frustrating to type out or say "that really cool place where we go to school that has the neat toys" Lol
